Blocking is a crucial aspect and extremely important shot in pickleball. When your opponent drives the ball at you with accelerated pace, blocking allows you to use your opponent’s power against them. FAD’s Focus Points:
1) the majority of pickleball players will want to block with their backhand, which allows for a far greater range of motion;
2) make sure to keep your paddle extended and away from your body, to avoid getting jammed; and
3) relax and keep balanced and stable, do not backup, and allow the ball to bounce.
These simple tips will allow you to effectively counter your opponent’s power and direct the ball down to their feet or into the kitchen!
